Sumter EMC Annual Meeting-June 15!
Sumter Electric Membership Corporation will hold its Annual Meeting of Members on Saturday, June 15, 2019 in the gymnasium at South Georgia Technical College. The meeting will be called to order at 8:00 a.m., for the purpose of registration between 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. The business session of the meeting will be called to order at 10:30 a.m., at which time registration will close.
Beginning at 8:00 a.m., entertainment will be provided by Brandon Wheeler with special guest Mike English. Brandon released the title track, “Cruise Control”, to his first album in spring 2013. That same year, Brandon made his television debut with his song, “Ole Biggun”, the introduction to the hunting enthusiast show Above The Game. He frequently plays the legendary Douglas Corner Cafe in Nashville and was a finalist in the Country category at the 2016 GA Music Awards. Brandon is currently writing and gathering material for a second studio album.
Brandon’s special guest, Mike English, also began singing and performing at an early age. He moved to Nashville, TN in 2000 where he performed and hosted songwriters’ nights twice a week at the famous Broken Spoke. Today Mike is the full time pianist for Leary Baptist Church, and for the seventh year, he and his wife are providing the worship music for their association’s youth camp in June.
During the business session the membership will hear reports of officers, directors, and committees; elect directors whose seats are not contested; receive the report of the Credentials and Election Committee on the election of any directors whose seats are contested; and conduct all other business that may properly come before the meeting or any adjournment or adjournments thereof. The three candidates nominated by the Committee on Nominations for terms on the board of directors are: Cecil O. Myers, Sumter County; David A. Barrett, Stewart/Quitman Counties; and Bob Jernigan, Marion County.
Following the business session, more than 40 prizes will be given away, including a $1,000 gift certificate that can be applied as a credit to the winner's electric power bill.
